Discover the captivating world of hand tool woodworking in our introductory course designed for beginners. Whether you're a complete novice or have dabbled with machine woodworking before, this course will ignite your passion for hand tool working the wood. Our knowledgeable instructor will take you on a journey through the fundamental principles and techniques, providing you with a solid foundation to build upon and explore the areas that interest you. With hands-on experience and expert guidance, you'll gain the confidence to start your own hand tool woodworking projects and unleash your creativity. Here's what you'll learn: - Dive into the world of wood species, understanding some of their unique characteristics and applications. We will talk about a few common woods and why you might want one over another. - Discover essential hand tools and their functions. Saws, Chisels, Hammers, Planes and Drills Oh My! We will talk about what each tool does, how they work, considerations for using them safely, and do some test cuts with them. - Survey basic joinery techniques used in woodworking, such as, miter joints, dovetails, the mortise and tenons and learn about the theory behind joinery design. -Learn about the different kinds of wood finishing techniques and materials that enhance the beauty and durability wooden creations. This course is designed to introduce beginners to the elements of "Low-Machine" woodworking with a bend towards furniture making. It will highlight considerations relevant to the growth of a woodworking practice to quickly overcome hurdles any beginner might face. If you've ever wanted to get into woodworking but didn't know where to start, your answer is right here. In this session, you'll learn about the different steps of making wooden furniture, and what you'll need to get started. The course is designed to be like a spring board, from which, you can start your dive into the craft. What this course is and is not: This is an introduction! We will cover broad topics and answer questions as we have time. We will have demonstrations and a few "hands on" attempts for students to try. While we will cover the principles of the furniture process in the course, we will not be making furniture in the class. We will have tips and considerations for expanding woodworking practices, but this is NOT advice on how to scale a woodworking business (that's it's own masterclass somewhere down the road). Class is intended to be 3 Hours Long

If you need to cancel your enrollment in a course, please notify us at least 48 hours prior to the start of the class to receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the class start time are subject to a 50% cancellation fee. In the event that we have to cancel a course due to unforeseen circumstances, we will provide a full refund or offer alternative arrangements. We strive to ensure a fair and transparent cancellation policy to accommodate both our participants and instructors.
